MUNICIPAL PROJECT - INSTALLATION OF CONDUIT ALONG ROUTE 24 IN MA

In May of 2016 we were contracted to install conduit for a new Mass DOT project. The scope of the project was to install new signage and cameras along Route 24 from Fall River to Brockton.

This particular location of the project called for us to install (1) 3 inch conduit under the Route 24 off ramp to Route 195 East. The bore was made a little more complex as we had to cross the ramp on an angle to get the pipe in the grass area on both sides.

The drill was set up on the southeast end of the ramp, far enough back to achieve our burial depth. The pilot bore was completed successfully, finishing in the grass area between the on ramp and breakdown lane for Route 195 East. The drill head was removed and a backreamer was installed to cut the hole larger during pullback. The pipe was then attached behind the reamer ready for pullback. The pipe was then pulled back to the drill. Pipe on both ends equals another successful job completed.

The real benefits of Directional Drilling are displayed here as traffic continues to flow with no lane closures, no detours or road repairs needed.
